Default Performance shops in the area

Since I'm fairly new to the area, any good shops around here? I'm lookin into wheels soon, specifically, but any shady places to avoid? Thanks for the input guys...Also, any good car events in the first week of August, my dad is visiting, and he's a Honda junkie(he has a 95 NSX-R, yes a REAL R).

As far as Austin, I have heard a lot of good things about a shop that works primarily with Nissan vehicles and does a LOT of 350z tuning. I heard one of the guys is good with s2k's but I havent had the $$$ to get an EMS and check it out. I'll try to find the name of the shop and post it here

agreed. RE Tuning is pretty much a waste of time. Real waste of time and has left me questioning for a long time if the work was done properly.

I called the guyes at uprev before as they were recommended by JC Automotive Specialist. There is one guy who is familiar with s2k's, however he said greddy emanage would be better to tune with over AEM EMS since there is "too much to tinker with." This gives me the impression that they might not be familiar enough or skilled enough to handle extensive tuning on systems that arent Nissan Z.

For what its worth, I called Colvin Automotive before just to inquire about tuning services, and from what I remember they could do VAFC tuning, but not AEM EMS (maybe I mixed the 2 up.. its been a while.) But the guy I talked to on the phone was pretty awesome as far as being friendly and knowledgeable. He chatted with me on the phone for 15 minutes or so about cars in general. If I ever want to run a dyno, I will definitely go to Colvin first since their prices beat everyone else around and their customer service over the phone was very positive.
