I have Alpine speakers on doors and they work pretty good for the sound and clarity...
I can second that. alpine ftw.

I'm most likely going for the JL VR speakers. though now I have no clue about the amp. I'm coming into a little money to do all of this with on the 1rst. if all works out. haha ill have somewhere around a grand to drop into it. either that or I'll save it for a top. depends if I can get insurance to cover it, along with my driverside fender and quarterpanel.

I'm curious about the enclosure for the two 8s, I was considering one 10 in a custom fiberglass box in the driver side trunk. Two 8s sound interesting.

I don't think it would sound too bad. It would definately have clarity, though I would rather have a single 10 than 2 8s. They also make a special custom box that fits in the bottom of the trunk, where the spair tire parts are. though you have to special order it.

dual voice coils are good if you have an amp that can put out power at a low impedance (ohm).

from what I can tell, you plan on getting an 4 channel amp to power both the fronts and sub? I remember there being amps that were sold with that in mind, but I would go separate, if for anything just so that if you have a problem with one amp, it won't affect the other.

basically, you want a small 2 channel amp to power the front components (good example would be the jl audio 300/2), and a good mono-amp to go to your sub. get one thats stable at 2 ohms.

depending on the ohm rating of your sub (generally, 8ohm if they're cheap, 4ohm if you spent a little more money. chances are that yours is 4 ohm), you'll be able to get more power from your amp when its wired in parallel.

with the dvc, you're dividing the signal, so it will lower the subs ohm rating (8 becomes 4, 4 becomes 2), a-la bridging the amp.

whats the power ratings on the sub?

I got arc audio components and a arc audio amp for my 10, they are awesome, and not crazy expensive. If you want to check it out on wednesday at the dinner let me know.

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing. I have a friend of mine that works in the speaker area of Best Buy that I was talking to, and he was telling me that it would work, and save money(which is always a good thing)

the Sub is a 4ohm. I'm pretty sure its 300watt rms, 600 peak. but thats what I did before, running the sub parrallel to a mono amp. Though the amp is only a 400 watt, and a little dated. The sub is also, but is in almost perfect condition.
