with the way gas prices have been, I doubt honda would up the displacement.

I believe it would be in honda's interests... that if they were to make a successor to the s2000, they'd market it closer to the miata....
2.0 engine, a little less power, lower price, higher production numbers....

problem is, roadster sales have been in the decline, especially with the lousy economy.

The economy is going to come back. It always does. If Honda starts planning something now, it may be timed just right when it actually makes it into production.

Toyota made the mistake of bad timing and being too late to the game with the new Tundra in regards to the economy. Honda might be okay with this one.

The economy has always been cyclical; every 8 years or so I think.

That s3000 concept looks sharp. There are also many many haters and ignorant people in those article comments. =/
