Default Anyone with the 4.44 gears?

I'm looking for someone in Texas with the 4.44 gearset. I'm seriously considering the mod but would like to see/feel it in action before making the purchase.

I'm not sure on this, but I believe Wes is the only one with them on his car. Thing is, it wouldn't be a fair representation of the mod alone, he is FI.

Within the next few weeks I will have them installed. Just waiting for the CompTech diff to land.

Hey Jeff, are oyu recommending any changes if someone were to go to the 4.44's or the 4.77's?

Thanks,
Tom

Tom, nothing else is "needed". But, you do have to consider the fact that your differential will have to be rebuilt...and that takes some time ($). So, if you have any other rear end mods (Kaaz differential or Comptech bearing caps) it makes sense to do them all at once. The yellow box can be installed to correct the MPH difference, which is appearantly 8% (your gauge shows that you're going 8% faster than you really are), but it's not really "needed". I plan on eventually installing the yellow box...but it's not really off bad enough for me to rush out and do it.

so would you strongly suggest against getting the gears if you were not going to change out any of the rear end? I dont' consider myself a terribly aggresive driver, soooo...would I be ok with just a gear swap? or no? thanks.

ouchie...there was a thread about someon switching to 4.77's, which I am to understand is mainly for autox and track use, but it seems he says it is simply a blast to drive...

using the reverand's calc, the revs don't seem to be TOO high for the 4.77's. I know you would probably advise against these, but how strong are you in that opinion?

My car is used mainly for goign back and forth to work, and as you know the Sat GTG's and an occasionaly TH GTG. Rarely a trip to Austin.

Based on what I've seen with the 4.44, I believe a 4.77 would be in VTEC in 6th gear around 95 MPH.

I don't consider that streetable, but that's me.
