The value of an item (service in this case) is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. So, to you an item might be worth $1, but if someone is willing to pay $1000 for it, then that's how much it's worth, $1000.
Well, no shiet, man. I've taken economics. It's just that most people have the morals to not take advantage of someone to that extent.

Sometimes people become fans of shops like it's a sports team or something. They get some work done that went OK with no problems or the owner is a cool guy. Then, they start pushing the shop on everyone like they own stock in it or something. I'd always shop around prior to each job I'm having done before becoming so dedicated to one place.
