Default Check Engine and Maint Req'd

Well guys I i have a bit of a problem. I have the check engine light on and when i computer diagnosed it the response was "low bank cat". Im guessing its the exhaust system. Maybe the cat went out? A few questions if the probem is the cat how are test pipes? Its something ive wanted to do but have heard mixed things about them. Thanks for any input.

how much mileage is on your car? if above 60 k miles then that is a sign of regular maint.

when it happen to me. i took it to my friend where he put the key in the ignition but, did not start the car, and held to the accessories position for 3 seconds and then push the select button on the dash for the same amount of time.

i don't know if that is the correct order but, im pretty sure there is thread on it. somewhere in the "under the hood" subforum

Test pipe would keep that cel light on unless you have the cel fix. Which doesn't fix the problem 100 percent. Best thing is to get the code scanned and see what needs to be fixed. Maintenance light is an easy reset. Turn to on position while holding the two buttons on the right of the cluster I think. Release and turn back on and the light should come off. The cel after you have everything fixed can be reset by unplugging the positive on the battery. Let it sit for a couple minutes and plugging it back on. Hope that helps.

I don't but have done research on them prior to purchasing. For the gains, to me its not worth it. More hassle then anything. I then looked to the high flow cat but even that throws codes sometimes. That is with the cel fix too. I just stuck with the oem cat. You can find a used oem cat in the main for sale section for around 50-100 bucks on here.
