Clutch slippage.....
HOLA HOMBRES.
Well been noticing since my last HPDE that my clutch has been engaging VERY high and slips upon power. I'm going to check for clutch master leaking and will also flush with some super blue i have. If it's still slipping i'll need to change it. I'm hating the smell of the clutch, don't think i glazed it though.
I emailed Curt to get a price quote, but was wondering what you all have been quoted for labor. I'm thinking of making it easy and using stock flywheel, and possibly the SOS clutch kit. Or do others have a suggestion. I do have plans on eventually boosting so might as well make it worth it.
Thanks
mike

Eventually could easily be after this one so don't get some heavy duty clutch on NA power. I've been quoted between 700 to 1000 for labor on clutch install so I did it myself last Christmas, do not recommend doing it yourself though, it's a pita.
how many miles are on the clutch and have you tryed the adjustment on the back of the clutch pedal? the clutch is easy to change just have to set time aside and go at it and dont forget to resurface your flywheel
about 48k miles on it now. It disengages about 2 inches from the top, plus I've noticed it slipping some on hard acceleration. Of course I'm the third owner, so never know what the guys before me did. But with the low miles it should be ok. Oh well, going to replace the fluid this weekend and decide on doing it or not.

I think I was quoted around 700 bucks with an alignment from C and C, supplying my own parts. Apparently if you change the clutch/drop the sub frame it tweaks the alignment a bit. It was about 600-700 everywhere I asked. I’m not sure I would want to repeat the experience again, just because it took so much time. Changing the clutch a second time, if I need to would be something I would be willing to tackle.
I changed out my own over the course of a week. If I had to do it again, I could definitely do it over the course of a weekend. There was never anything that was rip your hair out frustrating. I accidentally removed the lower starter bolt instead of the upper, but luckily I caught it before I started unbolting the tranny. You will need a long extension, patience and some muscle. I had an electric impact, but I wasn’t able to use it in a lot of places because it was just too dang big [twss]. My biggest concern was jacking the car up high enough to get the transmission out. Contrary to what the DIY’s say, I was able to use regular car jacks (with about 18” of lift) and was able to get the tranny out, but there was no room to spare. Taking the tranny off and putting it back on definitely require two people, even when using a jack.
Here is my recommendation: if you have another car, try changing it yourself. The best thing you can do is have a friend who has done this before.

i would say it may have been previous driver error, i think the clutch has been slipped to much or has been engaged to harshly for to long. another posibility is the master or slave cylinder is bad.
i have changed 3 clutches on my car because of a bad master cylinder and normal use and i have never seen a change in the aligment when i lowered the front sub section, i have taken it for aligment every time i have done this and there was no change, but you never know.
good luck and it can be done in one day if you have another flywheel or if you can get someone to turn it for you that day, it only takes about 15 to 20 min to turn it.
