Default Component Speakers

What kind of component speakers are most of you guys running....
I was looking into getting some Alpine type-R's.

Since i was looking i decided to go into car toys on 249 behind hooters, and that crazy f-er wanted me to put 2000 dollars into speakers, an amp, dynomat, and installation fees.

I thought that man was crazy

Charlie, do some research on these two audio sites.

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/

http://www.diymobileaudio.com/

I can rattle off good brands but its up to you to decide what you like.

I heard some focals. Which I've never heard of before but they sounded amazing. Just redonkoulsy expensive.
Is dynamat really necesary just when installing components?
And what kind of amp are u pushing those alpines with?

Focals have good midbass but their tweeters sometimes can be overbearing. You can dynamat to seal the door which would make it sound better. But you aren't going to get nearly the same quality due to the car being a soft top.

What amp are you pushing them with? and where do you have it mounted?

Also are the batteries in the S2000 big enough to push an amp or did you upgrade to one of those yellow tops?

im using my old mtx 2 channel amp out of my old car because it fits under the passenger seat. its little but around 350 or 400 watts i cant remember i had a bigger 3 channel hooked up with my sub but the components alone sounded good enough that i didnt want to deal with losing 1/2 of my trunk to a big ass amp and sub box

the components give a surprising amount of base by themselves
