Default FI and Emissions

Interested in going w/ a SC for my AP1. I know I'll need a piggyback ecu, but what other concerns are there w/ regards to emissions. I'm not looking for stratospheric numbers...would like to be somewhere around 300-350 rwhp.

Thanks

Gerry

Here in Texas they don't check exhaust gasses unless your car is pre-OBDII (older than 1996). SO with my somewhat limited knowledge of FI, I would say as long as the tune is good, and you don't throw a check engine light, you should be in the clear.

Depends on what shop you take it to.

My s/c rsx-s always passed inspection. Nothing was paid under the table but no cel where thrown. What part of town are you on op?

Not to start a big SC vs turbo debate.... but I'm leaning towards the SC as being a fossil I still remember when turbo reliability was pretty poor....it sounds like this is no longer the case... who's running SC'd and who's running a turbo and if you don't mind could you maybe let me know the reasoning for your choice... thanks

turbo has a lot more bits and pieces. s/c is a much more simple build imo.

benn-o is s/c
9krevvin is turboed.

im sure theres more out there........

i was trying to decide between s/c and turbo, and after riding in matts car i was sold on a turbo setup. really all what you want and if its your daily.

I do have other vehicles, but the S is pretty much my daily so that's why I was thinking it would be best to stay b/n 300 - 350 rwhp.

i'm on a paxton novi 1000 and pushing 280 rwhp with stock header/ cat. no engine management (rocking the comptech piggyback rising rate fpr). i'm on the stock 6 psi pulley but, nothing is stopping you from rocking a 9 psi pulley with a different head unit like the 1220. its pretty easy to install as far as S/C's go while something like kraftwerks takes a little more breaking the car down.

as far as power goes, it is very linear and won't have that "kick" like a turbo. it is however very easy to drive to the limit. also i'm running about 25 mpg hwy so my mpgs didn't suffer like a turbo car.

if you have any questions, i'll try to answer them as best as i can. if you're looking for 350'ish and going turbo then i feel it is a waste. the community has pretty much ironed out of the kinks on turbo setup's and everybody can make 500'ish with a nice 6262 sidewinder setup. i do however believe whatever your FI budget is automatically double it. a lot of stuff will nickel and dime you especially trying to squeeze out as much from your setup as possible.
