Hi All,
Being newer (at least since I've been of driving age) to Houston, I've been looking for some fun roads around the area to tinker around on on the weekends. Any suggestions?
I'd hope that we can keep this structured a little bit so maybe a format for the informational posts? What are your thoughts? I can keep track of the thread and compile new information, but put post up as much info as you can.
Thanks,
aCab

Jeff can vouch for this one
found it when I started working up there. There are a couple of variations that are all twisty in that small area. It's residential but you don't need to go beyond the speed limit to have fun in that path. That and if you screw up you'll spin out into a drainage ditch.

RX7 club in Austin is hosting a drive this weekend: http://forums.s2kca.com/showthread.php?t=38286
As for finding new roads, browse through some motorcycle websites. I literally just looked at a google map and tried to find anything that resembled a turn. If anything, google up the route we took the other day. There's a few extra twisties along the route we took this past weekend, but I had to keep it abbreviated since most people don't want to drive for more than 2 hours (we took about 3). Google map it and you'll find find some extra twisties we missed.
Sometimes I do recon drives to explore and plan for future drives. Sometimes we'll hit up some very rough paved roads, dirt roads, and gravel roads by accident (just ask Lee
). I'll call you up next time if I go on a run.
Here's a bone I'll throw at you. There's a road near Caldwell, TX that's stupid-nice. But there's heavy law enforcement and would recommend driving with a stock exhaust in 6th gear only as the locals will rat you out. I almost got thrown in jail there.

There's some empty road in an undeveloped/abandoned subdivision that I've seen drifters practice on. Is that the one?
