Hardtop Owners
I always wanted a hardtop but when I look at the cost, I don't see the value for the price. Just wanted to ask the folks with hardtops to see if the hardtop was a worthy investment to the price (2-4K, depend on the deal you got). I am assuming that the cabin is quieter on while driving and the car is harder to break into than just a soft top but what are some of the pros and cons to a hardtop from experience?
I have the mugen and it is harder for them to break into, but if i were to buy another HT I would get the OEM one for wider back window view and the defroster. I only got this because I wanna sleep better at night but i would drop top any chance I can get.
Just garage it at night,done.
And seat locks of course.Lots of peeps never post on here except when they wanna buy something or when they get their seats stolen.Where was their intro thread? We would have gave them the seat lock warning then.

yep, its a nice investment to have but, a hardtop is not a final nail in the coffin to stop thieves. that's why they have hardtop locks to protect your hardtop as well. and truth most new threads are about somebody getting their stuff stolen, if you would like to stop it a garage is the only way.
while the s2000 is an iconic and unique piece of automotive history in the grand scheme of things its still a honda and still going to be molested by thieves looking to put our parts in their shitty jalopey's from the 90's.
now if you want a hardtop for the quiet factor, they have thier own quirks, with creaks, rattles, low visibility (non oem) and awkwardness of storage. so know that the there is no real way to give the s2000 a more luxurious ride but, every time i look back i just think about how awesome my hardtop looks.
and Alleykat, f@#k convertibles yo. hardcore hardtoppin' for life!!!

I've had almost every hardtop you can buy.Took them all off cause i bought this car cause it was a convertible. If they want your stuff bad enough a hardtop isn't gonna stop anyone.Plus hardtops aren't even hard to remove so to rely on them as a fool proof way to secure your seats is silly.Thiefs im sure wont mind breaking your window to get your seats. What would really suck is getting your seats AND your hardtop stolen.Which has happened before a good while back.
If anything deserves a ^ THIS, it's this comment. Windows are smashed all the time on non-convertibles.
...and garages are not a guarantee either. Search around and you'll find S's that were garaged and broken into. Security is always about layering and mitigation. Nothing will guarantee security but each added layer moves the odds in your favor.
