Local Driving Training
Does anyone know of a place in the Houston area (or relatively close) where one could learn how to drive a sports car as they're meant to be driven? This is my second sports car and by far the most powerful. I'd like to learn about all of the bad habits that I have in driving and how to improve on the good ones (if their are any)

There are a couple of local options that can get you part way there.
First is to come out to an autocross event. Most are sponsored by the BMW or Porsche clubs or SCCA. They occasionally sponsor autocross schools and car control schools. Check out their web sites.

Second you could attend a High Speed Drivers Education event at Texas World Speedway in College Station. There you will learn how to drive your car on a road course. They are full education events. There are several groups who sponsor them including the Porsche and BMW clubs. The next event is the weekend of September 7/8 sponsored by the Houston Porsche club. You can drive up and see how it works. I will be working the event that weekend probably assisting in the grid area. Look me up.
