Just out of curiosity --did you guys keep track of your fuel consumption? I got 219.5 miles out of 10 gallons (basically from the meeting point to the Texaco before we split off for the drive home), which would give me slightly below 22 mpg.

Just wondering if that is typical and if you also were in that neighborhood. I sometimes get the feeling that my mileage sucks pretty bad... Lifetime mileage for me is just under 21 mpg, mostly suburban traffic (some stop and go, some highway, etc).

PS: On the drive home I got about 27.5 mpg, but I think that is due more to me not squeezing the last drop into the tank when I filled up at home. I did get 26.7 mpg on my way from Chicago, though. That was the first time I ever managed to cover 300 miles with one tank of gas.

Well, but that's just it -- the mileage actually improved compared to my previous day-to-day drving...
