From your description I would say you should take a look at Sugarland or the Woodlands if you are thinking about the greater Houston area. Texas is a pretty large place...

sugar land for sure man...it just keep growing and property value around here keeps going up cuz of all the new businesses popping up.

look into telfair...its still a new and growing neighborhood. and definitely in the price range your looking for. how i know? i live in sugar land

ok i just reread what you said lol....rich neighborhood. telfair has custom homes 3+ mil across the street from where i live and damn they are nice. but they have some nice custom homes coming from 450k-800k

Houses are way cheaper here than Cali.Try searching on HAR.com for a house. For $300k it's gonna be huge. Most new homes in subdivisions outside of central Houston "610 loop" are $130k-170k new.Sugarland borders Houston and is nice but eh property taxes too much per year IMO. My house was $130k new, before finance and I pay $5k a year taxes. My uncle has a big house in sugarland and pays more than double my taxes.

You don't need to spend that much $ here to have a nice house.Lots of houses are the same your obviously just paying for area.

$300k will get you a 4000 sqft home. $600k might get you a 6000 sqft home or you can get a 3000 sqft home with waterfront view for that price. If you don't mind spending a little more, $19million will get you this: http://www.click2houston.com/news/-1...6/-/index.html
