Default Question for you racers

This question is for you guys that will be at JE event at Texas World Speedway or do auto x. Where should I get a helmet and what kind. I am new to driver's events and have no clue as to where to go or what type to buy.
Thanks for the help,

Hey Beau,

You will need an Snell 2000 Helmet (They issue them every 5 years, so if you get a Snell 95, you will be good to go). Try searching online for helmets. Depending on how much you want to spend, their are several options available. I prefer the full face model.

There are also lighter models (carbon fiber I believe) that are available, Since most Auto x's and DE events dont last 50+ laps, then that may not be such a concern for you. (then again, usually by the end of the weekend of a DE, im pretty exhausted).

You can go to www.helmetcity.com or pegasusautoracing.com. I personally like the Arai's and the Bieffe's. Oh and BTW,unless you are Eddie Irvine, Pedro Diniz, or Alexander Wurz, don't get the painted ones!

Also, make sure that the helmet is "SA" rated. This is a fire resistance rating that is required for most car events. Motorcycle helmets are "M" rated, and may not be acceptable at all events.

I got mine at Pro Am:

6125 Richmond Ave
(713) 781-7755

They have a lot of stuff for racing: helmets, gloves, suits, seats, e.t.c.
