S2000 VS IS-F
Houstooks,
I have a Built & TC 2001 Spa s2k that I am considering selling due to pressure from my wife to purchase a Lexus IS-F. I test drove the ISF, and fell in love, yet I always seem to come back to the S2000 (now on #3
).
One of the key factors in my decision to purchase the Lexus would be the current market value of my S2k. The dealer has offered 11,500 but I'm looking for the expertice of this community to help me gauge a fair consumer selling price.
The car has 32,000 miles, a fully built motor (f20c) with maybe 4k miles, assembled by Marcucci Motorsports, and tuned by Tony Paulo at T1R.
As for the motor, the sleeving was done by Endyn, 87mm, custom Endyn roller-wave pistons @9.3:1 CR, head and block were decked, Low friction rings, Crower billet rods (the good ones), new bearings, Supertech valvetrain, new valve guides, machined seats, ARP studs, all new seals, etc. Engine work alone totaled over $8,000 with recipts to prove.
The tires have less then 1K miles and are on Prodrive 17" wheels. I do also have the stock wheels with Nitto Tires.
In addition to the motor below is a list of parts:
CompTech Diff
Cryo treated ring & pinion
17" Prodrive GC06D's (Stock AP1 wheels also available)
Wallbro 255 lph fuel pump
AEM EMS
AEM FPR
RC 750 cc injectors
Revhard Turbo kit (T3/T4)
Tial 38mm wastegate/ Tial BoV
Hondata Inake Manifold
03+ oil-jet bolts
3" turbo-back exhaust with dual Apex N1 mufflers
ACT 6 puck clutch and PP
gm 3 bar map sensor
UR oil filter relocation
AEM wide-band gauge
All Mugen cooling mods
Clear side markers
Catch can
AP2 radio door
...and lots more that I'm forgetting

What is a fair asking price?
Thanks,
Matt

i think you could sell it for 14-19k honestly. I would start high and move down. The car itself is worth maybe 10. Usually I would say aftermarket parts don't add any value BUT since the engine is fully build, I think you could charge a little more.
Dont trade it in! Their offer is a joke.An 03 with 32k miles is really low miles.I would say that alone is about $13k minimum.Zach is right, mods dont really add to the value BUT your engine does. You have a great setup, now you just have to find someone that appreciates it and knows how much you put into it.I had a turbo S myself and know the cost. With that said I would price it at no more than $20k for a quicker sale.Maybe $20k obo and take what offer you like.I personally wouldn't take less than $15k.
Your wife is a keeper.I love Lexus too! As cheap as s2ks are getting you can just buy your 4th one later.

Thanks for all the input guys!
John, yes its me again...you know i cant stay away from these cars for long.
As for the comments on pricing, I have learned that mods dont add value with the exception of motor builds like this. I will likely put her up for sale at the lowest price I could part with her for, and if she doesnt sell quickly I will just have to listen to InspectorQ and keep her :-)
