Update for the Locals...
If you don't hang out Under The Hood you might not have read, I ordered a Mike Simon short block today to replace my messed up short block. Mike seems to think he can have the motor ready to go out in about 2 weeks, it will probably be another 2+ weeks after that for the car to get back on the streets. Motor install, turbo install, clutch/flywheel install, bolt the tranny back up, get a few hundred miles on it (aftermarket pistons rings reportedly seat quickly) to be safe then have it retuned. Since somoene will ask, the injectors that I will be running on the car will be the only limiting factor for now. In theory I don't have enough fuel to make more than 320-350 whp so we'll just have to strap it down and see what it can do with the injectors that I have. I don't plan on going crazy with the boost yet until I've enjoyed the car for a while and am ready to have it down for a bit...oh, and not before I have a freakin job.

Why don't you send him the head and have him put the long bolck together. This way he can fire it up and you just have to drop it in?

2. What would that buy me?
Very little motor assembly will need to be done once it's hear. Head studs are coming from AEBS, they will replace the stock head bolts. The head will be put on the block, we might have to weld a new fitting for the oil return line (still being discussed), but there's really no reason to have Mike assemble the whole thing. It would just end up costing me more in shipping (both ways).
