Default Asteroid!

Wow! I just got home from work and on the way home as I made my last turn about 1/4 mile from my alley way I saw up in the sky what appeared to be a helicopter on fire! I had just turned onto hillcrest and could see it was a large object with a glaring orange flare coming from underneath. It looked exactly like a police helicopter with the spotlight underneath except the light was orange and glowing like a candle flame and there was not a stream of light going to the ground. I asked myself 3 or 4 times WTF is that? WTF is that? I must have slowed down to about 15 mph while looking up into the sky, then decided to book it to my driveway to get a pic! By the time I got into my driveway MAYBE 10-12 seconds later, the object had moved so fast in an upward and away direction it now looked like a star! I seriously had goosebumps thinking i either saw a missile, ufo, secret military project, or helicopter on fire. After a quick google search I was reminded an asteroid was to come very close to earth but I had no idea it was tonight and I have NEVER seen anything like it! It happened at exactly 12:29am and Im a little freaked out by it all!! Anyways sorry for the long post but it was certainly a once in a lifetime experience, I hope someone else saw it to back me up! Here is the pic I got...Again when I saw it, it must have been at least 20-30 times (picture a helicopter in the air above you) bigger than the pic I got! They said it came within 17000 miles which is closer than our own satellites!

Yea thanks man! It was 12:29am here in dallas when i saw it so i couldn't see any trail, but judging from the fireball there was certainly one following it! I didn't hear anything though. I just can't beleive i just happened to be turning into the direction it was coming right at the time it was closest! Good thing I decided to close the doors early and take the long way home! I love my S!

Apparently, this was a 2nd meteor, different from the one that will come close to earth later today!

I wish I could have seen it. I probably would have if I had worked yesterday, but pneumonia Oh well, maybe I'll get another chance sometime in my life. Not that I want people to get hurt for my entertainment, but it would be cool to see

Whoa... yea I saw this all over youtube so I decided to check out the news. There are quite a few injuries in Russia when this happened. A piece of the meteor hit something and made a huge sound. I just hope that everybody is okay. Thats crazy that you saw it. I would've freaked out thinking it was a UFO haha
