While not on a S, I've had good luck using Safelite on the wife's Odyssey. Cost wise it was around $120, and can be paid by insurance or yourself.

Most insurance companies will cover windshield repair without making you pay anything up to a certain size crack/chip.

This is true. The insurance company would MUCH rather pay 100% for you to get a chip repaired than for you to let the crack grow, which would require a total replacement. Basically, it will probably totally free, and the insurance will NOT ding you for it or raise your rates.

yep, was getting gas at a chevron last year and (i think it was safelite) was there giving away a free chip repair. one per car. they said that (and i could be wrong) it is texas law that insurance companies allow one free chip repair/year. not sure if there are size restrictions or not.

Normally chips are free, a replacement PPG piece will run about 200-250 installed if you negotiate

^yes they will come to you or you can go to their place! I had mine replaced there a while back for somewhere around $200-250 with tax, install, everything! Best part is that it comes with a lifetime free replacement warranty for any reason your want! If i get more chips from now i on i just have to make an appt. and get a new window! They also installed my custom rearview mirror with no extra charge...

Speedyglass price matches safelite with like 10% off of safelite's quote.
We had a discussion in the AZ forum and they were saying speedyglass installs higher quality glass for windshield replacement and produces fewer problems, but that doesn't apply to a chip really.
