One of my phones is on an old AT&T plan and the contract is expired, I went to another cingular store and they said there werent any free phones, even if i just cancel this old plan and get a new one, is that true?

Yeah it is. They have more / less gotten rid of free phones. Reason being, 90% of those free phones where junk, and we just ended up having to warranty 3-4 of them per customer. So we lost money, and the customer had a bad a experiance. There are sometimes free phones online, but most of the time they are discontinued models, or refurb.

I just picked up a refurb Palm Treo 650 on cingular.com for 99.00 and a 2 year contract renewal.
Buyer beware tho - it does not say on the website they dont include the lansynch cable, but you can buy one on Amazon for 5 bucks. Because the website doesnt say it is not included, and because the owners manual says it is included, Cingular credited me 20 bucks for the cost of the cord.
Also, if you need a SD card for one, I just piced up a TWO GIG card at Micro Center for 17 bucks. (everywhere else a 2 gig card was 80+)
