I'm kind of surprised that you would pick that intake over the others for a dedicated track car. IIRC, it isn't really that great of an intake.

FWIW, If I wanted a good intake for a dedicated track car, I'd be looking for an AEM V2.

gernby i have the AEMv2. I have also gutted headlights and thought a straight line pipe into the vacant right headlamp with that whole area trimmed out and a few holes drilled into my lens would pull in air from the front alot higher off the ground. And maybe even a mild ram air effect. The AEM is so long and pulls air off the hot ground. mayb i am wrong??

I understand your line of thinking, and I might even agree with it depending on your type of driving (stop and go, etc.). However, your car is a dedicated race car, right? If so, then I really don't think IAT's are as significant for performance as harmonics.

If you datalog IAT's on a track with any CAI, I would expect that they would get pretty close to ambient within the first minute. I would be very surprised if there was much variance in that. Even if there is a few degrees difference in IAT, it's not going to make that much difference in power. However, the harmonics of each intake vary drastically, so the "resonant hump" in the power band is different for each.

The large volume and long pipe of the AEM V2 seems to have the resonant hump higher up in the power band than any other intake I've seen. I believe this makes it better for a track car, since you don't really spend much time in the lower RPM range. My PWJDM intake, on the other hand, has a lower resonant hump, so it seems to give all of its gains in the lower RPMs at the expense of high RPM power.

Honestly, if I had an S2000 dedicated to the track, I might even try the AEM V3, which has an even longer intake tube that puts the filter out in front of the radiator. I might also even try extending it further to see if I could put that resonant hump right up at about 7500 RPMs.
