Emissions testing in Collin County
Does anybody know the "real" requirements? If an owner removes the OEM ECU and replaces it with an aftermarket that does not report status to the OBD-II port, is the emissions tester allowed to do the regular tailpipe test, in lieu of the OBD-II port scan?
The guy at Lute Riley said he thought it was OK, but he wasn't sure.

I don't believe so. Call me tonite and I will go through the TX emissions code- I have a copy of it.
A computer-savvy person would come up with a microcontroller that would spoof the OBD2 readiness codes.

And it's too bad we don't know any computer-savvy people.
They are required by law to have you sign an affidavit saying you have moved or are moving to the county. It's a good way to get your ass busted hard. I know people that have done it and I don't recommend it.
I have a soft copy of the document somewhere. And a link. I will have to go back through my email.
