A few tips for newbies going to MSR next week
If you have never been to a D.E. and are going to MSR next weekend keep these things in mind.
#1 . make sure to remove everything from the inside of your car ie, radar detectors and garage door openers. Also check under your seats so nothing slides out to tangle itself into your feet and pedals .
#2 empty your trunk at the track. ie spare tire and tools
#3 make sure you have your helmet situation figured out before you get there . No, old motocross helmets wont pass . I actually had a student do this.
#4. Check and know what your tire pressures are. If in doubt go with the cars air pressure recommendation. You may be asked this by your instructor who is trying to get a feel for your level of basic car savvy.
#5. ALWAYS check your lugs the morning of every event. Especially if you have had recent work done on your car. I cant tell you the #of times I have checked my own lugs and was shocked to find 1 or more loose. plus, your instructor may ask you what yours are torqued to---Have an answer---our cars should be 85 ft/lbs. don't be the one who has a wheel come loose on the track.
#6 No Armour-all on your tires. While you want your car to look nice- its not a beauty contest. Excessive Armour-all can cause your tires to slip/slide in turns.
Have fun- get there early and park next to other S2000s. Half of the fun is meeting other car guys/gals.

I'm prepping this weekend. Changing...
- Oil
- Tranny Fluid
- Diff Fluid
They're all due anyway, and it's just as easy to do them at the same time while the car is on stands.
Brake pads & fluid are relatively fresh, so no issues there I think.
Stock exhaust will remain on the car so I can actually HEAR my instructor, and I probably won't have time to install the new coilovers. It would likely take a few days for them to settle and then I'd need an alignment...all before next Friday.
Just as well if I run on the stock suspension anyway. This DE for me is all about seat time and improving the driver.
See you guys at the track!

I would like to add something that no one else has mentioned.
THIS IS NOT A RACE! Learn how to control your car and be a better driver, that is all.

Also it is possible to get an instructor you just can't get along with, there is nothing wrong with this. Not everyone can get along, so talk to Rick, Dean or someone who has been to these before.
You should be going to learn & have fun
I'm excited, and a little nervous. Thanks for the pointer, I'll make sure to remove it all. MY big question though, is do I need to remove the amp rack? I have PAS2KNUT's amp rack, and it doesn't move. Everything on it is bolted on, but its kind of a pain to un-wire and take out, so I'd rather avoid it. I plan on removing the subwoofer the day of the events of course, as well as everything inside the car.
My car is brand new. 2006, 1700 miles on the odo. So I assume I just need to do a basic check, like oil level, brake level, tire pressure, etc. Am I correct?

Your trunk add ons are probably ok as long as they are bolted down and dont slide around. Your car sounds brand new so it should be fine. There should be air at the track so it sounds like you are set.
It will be good to see more Honda product at the track this weekend. There's been too much Lotus and all I've had for close company is a few Integras. Otherwise you'd think Porche and Corvette and Mustang and BMW was all there is.
I'm not complaining, exactly. And I'm really looking forward to another RSX showing up some day. But meanwhile, some S2000 cousins will brighten things up. So this is great to see. If you haven't done it before, prepare to enjoy a great weekend. Intense but fun.
