Default First oil change

I understand that Honda puts a break in oil in the case when delivered, but also know that castings and other crap can be present in the oil before the first change.

That said, what would the normal first interval be for an oil change in the S?

I am guessing the oil life monitor will give me some 7500 miles but that is wayyy to long.

So, your opinions.

I will be replacing with Amsoil 0W30 full synthetic and a Mobil 1 Filter.

BTW I searched the Under the hood sub forum and there wasn't much that related to later year AP2's just a lot form '03 on AP1s.

Got it 2 months ago with 200 miles on it. So yes, basically new. It has 1200 now.

You're wasting money changing that frequently with synthetic oils. I change mine when the Minder hits 15%, which is usually around 4500-5200 miles on Mobil 1 10W30 Changes.

As mentioned... in this day and age, 7500 isn't way too long. Honda I'm sure builds their engines in clean rooms after thorough cleaning and inspection of all components. The probability of their being any chaff or debris in the motor is slim. Even so, the filter will get rid of any debris.

wow, so your cars have been "parking lot pimpin" at the dealership for a while huh?

im thinkin, the first couple changes should be more frequent. proly for break-in purposes. i know the filter should pick up most of the casting flakes.

i would suggest, change out that initial oil and switch to something good, like mobil 1, change that oil at 3,000 .... then you'll be good for the 7,500+ changes.

^Nevermind, Todd beat me to it^

Thanks. I will give it until about 3000 and then go to my typical 7500 as I do for the TL and Odyssey.
