Hi guys,

I recently got a very good offer from Tampa FL on a great project for Microsoft which will be a great addition to my resume.

I have another interview in some advertising firm in Irving today in the afternoon which is a regular .Net/C#/SharePoint developer job but nothing hi fi for my resume, you know...

What would you do?

Obviously FL one is paying more but I am not sure what to do now.
Tampa has great project, great addition to my resume but the state tax + gas prices plus moving hassle for 6 months.

Irving position is just another contract, not a great project but something to pay bills for sure as usual. Irving one will pay the same as my last contract was paying but Florida one is paying more plus it's a very good project...ugh..so confusing!!!

So in short...FL or Dallas?

I agree. You should be looking at the long term benefit.

 

If it helps, Florida doesn't have a state income tax either... just like Texas...

 

FL is very expensive so keep in mind that even though it pays more, rent will be way more so will taxes and gas and really anything that you don't buy on the web. you may want to look at cost of living a bit before you move for the money... but if you move for the resume then go for it

 

Are you sure FL does not have state tax?

I am moving to Tampa probably and I have heard Tampa is cheaper than the rest of Florida, but still expensive than TX in living, gas and other stuff.

to move, i think it'd be easiest to hire a moving company for all your furniture/everything, and then just hop in the S and roadtrip there with your clothes

 

I don't want to take any furniture there...maybe my bed...hell I would even sell my TV, anyone want a 32 inch lcd for cheap? LOL

I will hire a uhaul truck just to haul my S...and fill truck with clothes...thats it...I may do extended stay or something there..or some furnished apartment...since it might be just 6 months?
