Default I need a dyno

I am tired of putting up with Intercrew and even tho it is in my backyard (literally) I am looking for another place to spend my money.

Where are some other dynos in Dallas?

I am in Richardson so I really would like to find one close by if possible.

Speedworks in Lewisville is good (www.txspeedworks.com) and costs $60 for three runs, which includes air/fuel. They cater to the older and not so fast and furious crowd. I went to a track junkie dyno day a few weeks ago and got 3 runs for $40. They need 15 cars to put a dyno day event together.

Just out of curiosity, what problems were you having w/Intercrew? The owners are good friends of mine & I'm sure they always want a happy/repeat customer.

How many runs do you think it would take to tune a VAFC?

You would probably need more than 3 runs. However you might get pretty close with three runs if you had a good idea what settings to start with and what the optimum a/f ratio is for a s2000.

Thanx David.

Anyone know of any others than Speedworks? If I can't find a closer one I will use them. I like the price. It sure beats the $65 to $150 I was getting quoted by Intercrew. Every time I went in it was a different price. Also they don't use an O2 meter or print the correction factors, etc. that allow you to have a valid, comparable dyno graph.

And basically the problem with Intercrew is that if you aren't Asian, you aren't.

Policies and prices change every time I am in there.

I really don't want to go into it further on a public forum. Let's just say I can choose where I spend my money and I choose to spend it elsewhere. A business has to earn your business and they haven't.

David, I completely agree w/you that you spend your money anywhere you want. However, I don't want to assume anything on your comment about "If you aren't Asian, you aren't." FWIW, I'd probably say 50% (If not more) of his customers are caucasion. His old shop use to be in Plano & most of his customers from that area still go to him (His customers there were mostly caucasion also). As for fluctuating prices, they do that w/everyone (Including myself). Prices change daily & they don't always remember what quote they gave to who on a daily basis. Have a good day.

I'm sure his prices would depend on how busy he is at the moment. Last time I was there, he made it clear that he is primarily charging for his time to get the car setup on the dyno. If he has to move cars out of the way, or if he is busy on something else, I would expect the charge to be significantly higher. If I were going to go over there for some dyno runs, I would probably call and ask when it would be most convenient for him (... cheaper).

I want air / fuel readings on my next trip to the dyno (whenever I get a VAFC), but I didn't get the impression that David B is wanting to do any tuning. It seems like he is just wanting an informative plot. If he just wants to see what his car is putting to the ground, then it would be best for him to do it close to his house, so he doesn't have to heat soak his engine on the way to the shop.
