Insurance Question
I bought a '91 CRX for $3300 for a cheap commuter/autocross/track car and I can't decide what I want to do about insurance. The quote I got for liability was $195 per 6 months (50/100/50) and I can add on comprehensive (500ded) for $41 and collision (1000ded) for $63. I do have some concerns with theft and hail so I am leaning towards the comp coverage but with the low value of the car I don
I'd find out how much the insurance will give you for it if it gets stolen. I'd be willing to bet they won't give you $3300. What's NADA? That's probably what they'll give you (maybe a little extra for the add-on parts, but I'm not sure).
Personally, unless it's going to be your only available streetable car, I probably wouldn't get comprehensive or collision.

Oh... wait... I misread your post. For some reason I thought those were monthly charges. If those are 6-month premiums, I say, "What the hell"... just get it. It'll be worth it just for the peace of mind.
when adding a daily driver, check some other ins companies... I pay $103 a month for my Integra (daily driver; liability) and my Subaru (full coverage)... I had to switch companies because my old company wanted $170-180 a month... screw 'em...
My brother was very sorry he only carried liability on his old civic that was stolen and stripped. It cost more than a year's extra insurance to tow it home and get wheels and tires on it.. not counting the $1000 in other damage.
