Default Intake setup

I got a K&N filter for xmas, but I want the whole intake system. I think that means I would just need the tube and the heatshield? Maybe someone could chime in and give some advice...Do I need to return the filter and buy the whole kit? I wouldn't mind a carbon fiber tube with kn filter or some sort of setup like that.... any advice would be appreciated, and pics too!!

if you really want the whole K&N intake system, yeah return the filter and get the whole kit.

But IMO, just use the K&N filter with stock intake system. It will give you same performance, but the sound.

I really dont believe it will give you the same performance. And it definately did not give the same sound. I had both setup and let me tell you the sound of the FIPK on WOT is amazing. The filter alone? Sure it sounds a bit louder than stock, but not noticable like the whole kit.

I have a K&N filter on my stock air box but run it with the cover off and get significantly better sound. I've considered the K&N FIPK but wasn't sure it was worth the money. Maybe I'll give it a try.

if it doesn't give you same hp gain, it'll be less than 1hp gain. Which why I said same performance with just the k&n filter with stock intake setup.

Yeah, you're right, it won't give you same sound, I said that.

Just my opinion towards what OP is deciding.

Val, I'm interested in the FIPK, I thought the FIPK was a CAI? The FIPK won't allow hydrolock, I believe, and this is the main reason for getting this one otherwise I'd go with AEM V2...
