Default missing @ vtec

so i installed a hondata I/M gasket and 77C 170F thermostat and bypassed the fan switch today. i reset the ECU then started it and went for a test spin. the car runs fine but when i hit vtec the power drops off. sounds like its missing but i can hear the vtec kick in. i didnt repace the EGR gasket so im going to get a new one monday but i dont think that is it. any ideas?

Is it just a steady power drop off past 6000rpm? Or is it more of a jittery thing? If the jittery thing, disconnect the wire to the MAP sensor on top of the throttle body, clean both parts of the connector out with compressed air, then put it back together and make sure the connection is good and tight.

Classic MAP sensor, seems to me. Had it happen to my car and EgoThreat's car. What I posted above fixed it. Give it a try.
