Isn't Pennington pretty hard on tires? I'm still on the same set of StarSpecs, and my rears are below the wear bars.

Pennington is definitely one of the best surfaces that is not hard on tires or car or anything else. Perfect location for noobs to start. I never thought I'd miss the first event of the year like this since I am dying to autocross but I won't be in town...or in USA till first week of Feb..lol

I figured they would definitely last through 8 runs. I was thinking more about whether to throw Iain a bone.

My car is nearly stock, so you'll probably want to share a more competitive car. But if we get down to 11th hour, you're welcome to it. Us Asians gotta stick together right Iain?

Greg, the only thing I'd caution is that Star Specs have a different tire compound down near the wear bars which is much harder than the outer casing. On my tires I could cactually see the delineation between the two casings once I got close to the wear bars - it looked like the tire was cording in patches, but instead of belts showing there was another layer of rubber underneath.
Scott, I don't necessarily mind driving a near stock car, if it's on good tires. Chances are whatever I buy will be stock or close to stock for awhile unless I find the right modded car to buy - the kiddo is doing a number on my mod money these days.
My tires are still ok, not to the wear bars, but I am thinkint the star specs aren't 100% since I DD them + winter I don't know what the heat cycling has done to them. They were fine at ECR last month, but it seemed like they reacted to tire pressure changes more than ususal.
