Ouch. Cat's can be expensive (even if getting generic).

I just pulled the negative terminal on the battery. I'll worry about the radio code later. So far, CEL is off, we'll see if it stays off. If I need to get and O2 sensor, I found the cheapest price for an OEM like O2 sensor on Amazon (about $145).

That sucks. Any idea when you'll have it fixed?

I just picked it up. The guys at David McDavid took good care of me and covered the cat and sensor under warranty. They did not have to cover the sensor, but they did because it was taken out by the cats core.

Robert, your CR is still under warranty, isn't it? I thought the drivetrain warranty is something like 5 years / 50 K miles.

Autozone and O'Reilly's will PULL codes for free, but their policy is to not CLEAR codes at all.

I am not sure it will be warrantied because of aftermarket header. I'll ask. Found the part for $180 @ rock auto.
in order for them to deny your warranty due to an aftermarket part they would need to find evidence that the header actually caused the issue and then put it in writing. its the law.

i had an 2002 SE-R Spec-V that had the crank bearing go out at 58k miles. the dealer said they wouldnt warranty it because i had a header. they said the header makes the engine rev faster and caused the bearing to wear out prematurely. i asked them to put that in writing and they gave some excuse. they eventually replaced the engine.

its the moss-magnuson act that this falls under.

It's no longer under warranty for non emissions parts, it's 3 years/36 k miles. Seems like the O2 sensor would be part of the emissions but it's not, going by my warranty booklet.

There's a HUGE difference between blaming a header for a bearing failure vs. an O2 sensor failure. If my O2 sensor went out while I had a header, I would totally assume that it was due to the header, unless I already knew it was a common issue. A good aftermarket header will be hard on an O2 sensor due to the heat!

Robert, the drivetrain warranty seems to be 5 years / 60K miles according to this site. I also see that Honda also states this on their page.
