I heard ths funy noise coming from the rear of my car right. I take it to Honda in Lewisville they confirm that it is my Rear DIff... What do i do? Do i let them rebuild mine or swap or just order the ricks gears and take that route?

My guess is that warranty is not an option, since it's a MY00 car.

Hmm, do you mean that the noise is coming from the right side of the car? Can you describe the noise in more detail? Is it a warbling type noise that gets faster as the car's speed increases? Is it louder when coasting than when under acceleration? (I have a suspicion that it's not the diff.)

My MY00 is still under warranty ... via a Hondacare agreement Unlikely, but it does make a difference which options are closer to the top.

es it still has like a long way to go before the warranty expires... i was just wondering what to do it will be covered by honda but they will either do the rubuild on the broke or get me a knew one, but they will not nstall the atermarket parts like ricks for exa.

As for the noise only during acceleration will the noise come out and its horrile if you are in the area feel free to come over and ake it for a spin

Well, if it's under warranty then that would be my personal first choice. I mean, even if that one wears out it means that you can put off the purchase of an aftermarket part for a while and purchase some other S2K toy

That's assuming your not looking to FI anytime soon or just want the toque of a 4.77 upgrade, etc.

Most likely they will go the route that costs them less money. My feeling is Labor costs more than parts, So they probably wont rebuild your old one, but rather replace it with a quality new honda "remanufactured" one. They basically take an old case and replace any of the components that were dsigned for wear with new ones, and inspect and test them for OE quality They're cleaned so they look friggin' new. Those kind of compontents honda doesn't sell new anyway, they're all remanufactured. I learned that when I replaced the brake caliper on my Civic. You'll see "REMANUFACTURED" Laser etched into the component.

I'd let them fix it, and later down the road upgrade it when it's convenient instead of upgrading it because another failed. Especially since you don't know what caused the failure.
