S2000 Ultralight does it again!
Brian Anderson with Ultralight (the Lotus clone with an S2000 engine) which is made in Ennis just got back from the Run N' Gun.

For those of you not in the know. Run N' Gun is a triathalon type shoot out for Kit cars and is put on by Kit Car Magazine. It is open to all manufacturers and owners of cars. There are usually some pretty wild cars. The drag portion is usually won by a dedicated drag car that either cannot even run on the road or autocross courses or, if it does try to run, finishes dead last. Brian did very well there last year and since then he has changed from the SDS engine management to an AEM ems. I don't know what he has done to the rear, but IIRC he blew the diff last year in the drag event but really cleaned up in the road and autocross sections.
Here is the email he sent me.
"We got back yesterday from Run and Gun, took 1st and 2nd on the Road Course,
and 1st at the Auto cross, but lost to a 10.7 sec. Cobra on the Drags.
Had a Blast!
Brian"
We've asked him to bring the beast to the autocross in November.
Maybe we ought to have another meeting at his place to see what new things he has learned.

Brian said he "only" ran a 13.01 in the quarter, but he was spinning the tires the whole way! How would you like to have that problem?
Brian didn't drive this year and apparently his drivers hadn't drag raced before.

Brian gave me an update on the drag portions:
One of the drivers had zero time in the car before the race, and the other
had very little if any experience drag racing. I kept telling them to use
the water box, and heat up the tires, but they only got 3 runs each and by the time they got the launch figured out it was over. I have had the S2K turn 11.87 on slicks at the Motorplex with big burn outs and feathered launches. Unless our guys get much better before next year at the drags I will probably do that portion.

No just our auto-x's just any of them. I have never seen this guy out an any event. I have attended at least 30 in the last year, I have never seen this car in action, it is a myth.
he could sell at least one more than he is now. These cars are sitting right now. I have never seen one on the street and I don't know of anyone that has bought one.

He has gone to several SCCA events.
Truthfully what kind of market do you think the S2000 club is. Very slim I would say. Too many members have stretched it to the breaking point to get their S.
How many do you think have the disposable income for occasional weekend car?
At SCCA he has a much broader grouping of people and he is more likely to find a buyer.
Also he is a small shop, when you have an order you spend whatever time it takes to get it out. He isn't a come in occasionally, gentleman owner, he is a hands on owner and like so many small businesses it takes all your time to make it go.
