Default S2000 For Xmas

Obviously, this is a little aged, but still pretty good.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I think the S2k is cooler then a Boxter, but not as cool as a Corvette...

And the dash isn't irritating to me at all -- perfect for a quick glance down. I know exactly where my RPMs are at -- and that's all I care about.

Me, I'm not happy about steering feel -- just slightly dead compared to other cars. Other then that, this car fits me like a glove.

^ Well, that article was written in 2001-2002 which was the era of the C5 Corvette. I think the S2000 is cooler & better looking than the C5... but I do think the C6 had enough improvements to make me consider it as cool as the S2000.
As for the Boxster... I just have no use for it, and have never considered it "cool". While it's a good performer, it's still a yuppy's roadster in my opinion. For some reason, I still manage to like/respect the Cayman, though. Weird.

Porsche>Honda>Corvette

C6 is a great performance car PERIOD but I can't stand the interior or live with the build quality.

I'd probably take a new Boxster S/Cayman S over a new S or C6.

I haven't driven a Cayman, I imagine it's bad-ss tho. The Boxters I drove (1999 through 2003) did not impress me the way the S did.

I disagree with you Cosmo, respectfully of course. But GM is making huge strides in build quality, and I will venture to say that they've at least equaled a lot of German's offering. The aethstic value of GM's car may not match up quite as well, but build quality...I'd have to venture that GM's is pretty far up there these days.

I'd take a Cayman S over an S2K, but I'd take a Z06 any day over both of those.

I drove a 2004 vette before buying my S. Yes it was FUN AS HELL and i loved the sound and performance.

Based on my experience with the Chevy Blazer I once owned, I know the engine and tranny are strong on GM cars, but everything else around it was garbage... The electronics, the accessories, just the basic integrity of the car. I had to replace things on that truck that I've NEVER replaced on any other Japanese car. AC compressor, heater coil, windshield wiper motor, power mirror, alternator to name a few and all under 100K mi.

Speaking of build quality... let's not forget how many C6 Z06 drivers lost the roof of their vehicle driving down the freeway.

When it happened to the CEO at my company, my response to him was "Yeah, I actually remember reading about that when I was looking something else up... thought it was a fluke!". Then I proceeded to look it up again and... well no fluke at all!

No car's perfect - but American companies have spent a lot of time reverse-engineering Japanese/European counterparts...and they've learned. They're playing catch-up, no doubt. But the gap is a lot closer then you'd imagine. Even comparing models from as little as 4 years ago, American cars have made quite the jump.
