I ordered a set of JICs. I had a hard time choosing between the JICs and Buddy Clubs, since the price was so close, but I decided I liked the lower spring rates of the JICs. They should be here in a couple weeks, so I should have them installed in time for the May NTS2K and BMW events.

Spawn, whenever you are ready, PM docofmind for a good price.

BTW, for those of you that have installed coilovers, have any of you had your alignment done yet? If so, how much does lowering the car screw the alignment up? I know it is going to increase camber, but I'm not concerned about that. I am just concerned that it will change toe significantly. If the toe doesn't change much, I will probably wait a few weeks to get it aligned. I am not going to be able to lower the ride height much, due to my driveway, so it will probably take me a couple weeks to find the lowest setting that will not scrape.

taking a few weeks to find a setting that feels right is what my problem has been.

I still have not made it in to a shop for an alignment, I will post when I do so.

If you are at the BMW event this weekend you can see my ride height set up.

Thanks for the heads up. So what made you go with coilovers? I thought you were skeptical about their merits in AX.

Personally I doubt I'll benefit from these until I can drive the stock setup more effectively. I might consider coilovers after a couple more seasons of AX.

gernby: I want to take a ride-along once you get the JICs installed. I'll probably do coilovers at the end of the season, and I want to get a feel for what is out there. Maybe I'll get to ride w/ Clovis at some point too... he has the Tein RAs, right?
I should be at most of the autocross events starting in May, so hopefully I can ride with you guys then.

It was a moment of weakness. Until a few weeks ago, I had 4.44 gears at the top of my list. I started thinking about how my OEM shocks have 21K miles on them, so I started thinking about Konis, then different springs, adjustable perches ... then TypeSH mentioned the group buy for Buddy Club coilovers for $1550 ...

I decided against the Buddy Clubs because of the really high spring rates, and because docofmind was able to sell the JICs for a close price.

I am totally willing to allow ride alongs with anyone who is willing to donate a passenger seat for the adventure.

What do you mean? You have no passenger seat? Has the weight reduction bug bitten you? Or, did you remove it so you can tote wheels/tires out there?

Since my front Kumhos last 50% longer than my rear Kumhos, I have been driving out to MW on my front Kumhos and rear street tires. I carry 1 rear Kumho in the trunk, and the other rear Kumho where the passenger seat goes.

The Passenger seat can be removed and replaced in 5 minutes. There are 4 bolts, and no wires or connectors. Actually, I find that the simplest way to thoroughly clean the inside of the car is to remove both seats.

What did I tell you, gernby? Spend money!

Better hope this and a new set of front tires does it for you. otherwise, what are you going to do next?
