Default Side Swiped

Went to a Christmas Party on Saturday night after the Dyno Day...

Came out and found the my drivers side mirror housing was broken and cracked. If you ever wanted to know what color is underneath the paint its white. The person that did put a note in the mirror...was amazed to find a note with a name and phone number!! Guess some people still know the correct thing to do...

When I got home and looked at it in the light, I also found they had hit the rear quarter panel! Scraped the paint down to the bare metal in three spots. Damaged the rear bumper, and rim! So it looks like they will have to replace the mirror, maybe the rear bumper, and paint.

What a day... Bad Dyno results, still wondering why that was like that...It was low on oil earlier that day. Could it be the computer had made adjustments for the low oil and didn't have time to "learn" about the new oil level? I need to check the spark plugs, see if they have any oil contamination. My car is still burning oil, about a quart every 1000 miles.

Then I installed Rick's Badges, and Center Console...Looks really good. Black background yellow S, and the console cover is Yellow/Black.

Then the side swipe...Talked to Kacy about the body shop she is using, any recommendation will be helpful for repair shops.

Guess it can only get better from here...

I'll post some pictures later...

I have never used them, but I have heard great things about Stuart's Body Shop in Garland.

When my S2000 was rear ended, I took it to Stutgart Auto Center, right next to Addison Airport. (972) 490-1444. In addition to fixing the accident damage, I had them fix some to-the-metal scratches on the right-rear quarter panel and sand/prime/paint the front bumper due to the rock chips. You can't tell anything's been done.

mark is right. Stutgart does good work, so does Stuarts. They are the ones that fixed my car when"the incident"occurred. The only draw back with stuarts is the long wait. Sorry about the car.

That sucks man. I just saw this thread and wanted to pipe in as well. While I haven't had any work done I too would recommend Stuarts if you can wait. They have moved shop so hopefully they have more than one lift, but when I went to talk to them....nothing but porsches and ferraris running around. Claim to be the only shop in town to fix it so you absolutely not tell it happened. I have heard a number of ringing endorsements from the BMW side of things.

Although with the damage being mainly cosmetic I am sure there are other good paint shops in town.

What oil are you burning? A lot of BMW guys are burning more oil with Mobil One vs other synthetics. BMW too considers 1 quart every 1000 miles normal. I burn a quart of Mobil One about every 2500 miles - depending on *ahem* driving style.

Paul, sorry to hear about the car!! Don't worry, they can fix that kind of damage as good as new. I'm glad the person had the decency to leave you a note.

How long did it take you to install the center console cover? It definitely gives the interior some needed flair.

I had a dent in my Prelude worked on by Stuarts. It took them 2 months to get me in and it took another month to fix it. When I got it back they had torn up my roll cage padding, oversprayed on the hood and had not masked the bumper well. I think they have either gone down hill or they only care about those P and F cars.

Wow, that's pretty extreme.

Paul, next time we meet up, unless you've already dropped the car off somewhere, I'll be happy to show you specifically what Stutgart did on my car. I was able to drop it off a couple days after I called them, and it took them two weeks to do all the repair work. (I imagine a good bit of that was consumed by waiting for parts.)

Sorry to hear about that Paul. I'm sure it'll turn out fine.

$2,088.44

I was guessing, $1,200 - 1,400. I was a little off...
