Default Speeding Ticket

Hey guys,

Well I got a ticket for going 75 in a 60......

It was on Bush before the Josey exit (heading west) and where the 3 toll tag lanes merge.
I sped up to avoid a SUV (I tried slowing and he did too so I just sped up) and around the downhill bend before I could slow down a trooper tagged me.

I thought he was going to give me a warning by the way we were interacting, but he came back with a ticket.

So... I already took defensive driving a couple months ago for a ticket a while back.

My options are:
1) Plea not guilty and hope for a no show and/or explain my situation at the time
2) Ask for deferred and drive like a grandma for 3-6 months
3) ??????

I think you should get deferred since the chances of driving like a grandma in the S is kinda slim. I wouldn't try and fight it in court though, normal cops maybe depending on the area but troopers will probably show up.

Vote for #2. It's the easiest and least time consuming.

Sorry to hear you got tagged. 15 over is going to be stiff.

1) My wife pleaded her case like that (trying to get around someone) and it didnt fly for her (she was in a CRV) so I don't think that will fly.
2) Where do you get 3-6 month from? You can only take Defenisive Driving once a year for the dismissal of a ticket.
3) Take the hit. Do you have to tell the insurance company you got a ticket?

I would go for the second option and get a radar detector
I did the same thing, when I got clocked like 18 over the limit on bush by a carrollton cop. I got a radar and looked for big shoulders and just tried not to speed unless its all clear or I am behing some guy who is already speeding.

If you go for option 1, I have seen judge being harsh and they don't listen to your story, they make you pay it and you are screwed.

Good luck and sorry to hear about that bro.

Why do people come on here periodically asking questions like this? Have you never gotten a ticket before in your life?

Just do deferred or dd (if the previous ticket was in a different city) or pay it and get it over with.

Option 1 won't work.
Your best bet is option 2 from your list, but I'd recommend Defensive Driving...

Since you've already done Def driving recently, do deferred adjudification. Should be for 3 months.

You were probably lasered. That area of GB the state troopers always use laser with one person only clocking and then he radio's someone ahead to pull you over.

ehh i've had many tickes and the cheapest route and easiest for me was payin a lawyer 30-40 bucks to take care of it...For some reason they can make it to where you can take defensive driving again in the same year...Don't ask why, just do it and forget about it...
