Todd the Temp Guy?
Today I put a J's Racing hood on my car, and I was wondering if I could make use of some temperature probes to satisfy my curiosity on whether/how much it helps lower the temps in the engine bay...
Well...
Dave Temming is (tenatively) coming over Saturday morning to do a manifold insulator. I was going to work on the web site in the afternoon with (hopefully) David and Stefan. We might as well make it a director's meet, c'mon over!
I'm pretty loaded this week, Saturday is good or one day/evening next week. I'm in Grapevine, FWIW.
I have two things you might want to use- a dual channel thermocouple meter for instantaneous readings, and a bag of a hundred or so Dallas i-Buttons that will datalog (one record every second for up to a day). I'd recommend the i-Buttons, we can number them and tape them under the bay, datalog, then perform the same test on a stock (or reasonably stock) S2000.
We might need David or Stefan to volunteer for this... David will be getting the insulator and I already have it.
The i-Buttons are portable and easy to use, you're welcome to borrow them if you don't care to enjoy our company on Saturday!

I think it's actually easier than getting a second, stock car - simply block off the air vents in my new hood for comparison. Really easy with some windscreen sunshade material.
As for Saturday, I'll have to see. I have company coming in for the weekend and a party to prepare for that night, so I'm not sure what my schedule will be. Assume I can't make it unless you hear otherwise.
Thanks!

Yep.

I haven't had a chance to do a second test, however.
