Default update on my car

So 2 weeks and my warranty ( interstate star auto ) finally told me they are not paying for anything when axles are even stated in their brochure. Im going to go to the dealership ( Bill Utter Ford in Denton ) and let them know about their warranty plan they back. Huggins Honda said they will give me a discount for my troubles. For 2 axles, diff service, new dome light, and new blower motor for the A/C ( all installed ) its going to be around $475. much better then the $5000 they were talking. Not sure if i still want to keep the S though. If i do sale it i will be parting it out. Looking at a acura TL with nav sorry guys.

I'm still trying to figure out how you broke the diff and axles without 1) dumping the clutch at redline or 2) wheel hopping off the line somewhere or 3) hitting a curb going backwards.

Why don't you fill us in on the real (complete) story, then maybe you'll get some sympathy. Were you pulling out of the garage and the diff & axles just suddenly broke?

So, that sounds like you may be describing the outer CV joints. I would consider those "wear items" like a clutch or brake pads. I replaced mine at 140K miles on my 88 Accord and at 160K miles on my 95 Accord. I'm not sure how many miles you have on your car, but I think they're known to wear 'relatively' quickly on the S2000 (especially compared to my Accords). Especially if you didn't have the axle nut TSB performed.

Either way, I'm not surprised that it's not a warrantable item. Enjoy your TL.

Edit: Oops, I misread... looks like it's the inner CV joints, which is definitely known to wear relatively fast on the S2000. In fact, I'm pretty sure there's a DIY in the UTH section on swapping the inner CVs to deal with "pitting" that occurs in them. Shouldn't be a $5K fix, though.

i just drove the car like norm and there was a squeal in the rear because evidently the axles on the s r shit. i only have 90,000 miles on my car and i have had a civ with 160,000 miles yet never changed axles. o and i would have done it myself if i would have know the warranty wasnt paying for them even know its in the brochure.
