i'd like to stay away from those shops.

also, i got really mixed opinion on this....does the vafc reset itself after couple of weeks?

Its not the VAFC that resets, its the ECU that overrides it after a short time.
But it only overrides the partial throttle settings.
So most just get it tuned for WOT throttle unless you wanna reset the ECU every week or so, save you some time/$ during tuning.

At least this is what I hear... I want a vafc... /cries/

For pretty close to what you are going to spend to have it tuned someplace, you could alternatively spend on a wideband O2 sensor and gauge like NGK AFX or AEM UEGO and tune it yourself.

I don't know about Intercrew but Kenny(Jotech) is pretty good to me on tuning. I heard that Tony(T1R) is the best tuning around here but trust me he'll put a dent in your pocket $200 for vafc tuning and dyno! Like TypeSH had say....for all the $ you spend on the vafc tuning and dyno you can just get the aem uego wide band o2 sensor and self-tuned yourself, but the down side is that you don't actually know what kind of whp you will make. After 2 wide band tuning and dyno over at Jotech i can now basicaly play with the setting myself and still be on the safe side....or that's what i think

The vafc only good with the ap1 since the ap1 is runing a little richer than the ap2. Most people who had the ap2 with the vafc will tell you that they don't get the same HP as the ap1 which is somewhere around 5-7whp max. So basicaly it's just useless on the ap2 unless you just want the look and play with the vtec.

Tuning a VAFC is really basic. Pick an A/F ratio you want to hit, say 13.0, run at WOT (in a very safe area), and then adjust the fuel percentage to get that A/F. So lets say at 7000 RPM you are running rich at 12.5 and your target is 13.0, you take a -3% of fuel out and run it again.

If it sounds to complicated or if you are just nervous about doing it then take you car to Tony at T1 and watch and ask questions while he does it.

To be honest with you...please don't tune it by yourself unless you know what you are doing and not afraid of destroying your engine...and please don't try to copy other people setting just because their mods are similar to your. Everyone who had the experiment with the tuning will tell you that. Not every car is the same even if the mods are the same or similar.

Take it to Tony....watch him doing it. After he's done with it just look at the graph(a/f ratio) and ask Tony if you want to run a little richer or leaner than what the graph showed...what do you do? He'll probable will tell you to either lower the hvt setting by 2 or 3% (depend on a/f ratio that he setting it on)...or bump up the hvt 2 or 3%(depend on the last a/f ratio)....or he may tell you do not messing with setting because he had already setting it to the max. Anyway, G/L with the tuning and enjoy it. and remember not to set your vtec so low (5400-5500rpm) until you are getting used to it....otherwise you will bogging the vtec everytime.
