For those wanting more freedom within the North Texas forum, see and please use the new sticky thread entitled The Corner In North Texas. Link - The Corner In North Texas.

Happy posting.

I've been on ths forum for quite some time, but have been a lurker the entire time, just reading topics.

I think some of the postings have been hysterical, not so much from the posting itself, but the reaction to it. It seems that the forum had been quite boring, less informative and more confrontational.

I also believe the ones complaining were being a little hard on those they did not feel were being of any use and were using every little excuse to get him thrown off the forum. I know from reading on the forum several people on here had met him and considered him a cool guy. I think throwing him off for his lack of education and poor grammar was a bit discriminatory. Get ready for the forum to once again become a boring place to visit in his absence.

My .02 for what it is worth.

i found his posts entertaining as well, but he is a blatant internet troll and can type and speak normal english just fine. his first couple of posts were perfectly legible

even then, you can tell they're just inflammatory posts. but then his "friend" joins and he suddenly starts typing like this

but even that degrades into this shit..

and then of course there's his posse who just finds his posts hilarious and take it upon themselves to act like shitheads towards all of the veteran forum members that think its ruining the forum
Jeff, with all due respect, do you believe that the so-called veterans acted appropriately? It seems that they acted just as childishly or moreso. The idea of banishing someone simply due to the fact these so-called veterans were offended by him seems ludicrous. There is a similarly pathed thread within this forum also discussing events (or lack thereof), and acts such as this child-like bickering is one thing which is keeping people away. Personally, I will never attend an event with this organization because the entire maturity level is far beneath me.

Hmm, interesting. Which "veterans" do you speak of? Temming is one of the more mature people you'll meet around here, and it's pretty much him that organizes the meets and autocrosses around here. (Exceptions being things like the ricekiller meets, informal lunches, tomauto's drives and such.) Heck, for the longest time some of our biggest supporters at the autocrosses were the Miata pilots who are super nice and would go a long way to helping out with the events themselves, as well as ride-alongs and instructing for the newbies.

I know that I personally have read some posts from Cosmos and kumar that have/could upset people. But who else? I'm really confused here.

And to decide from that to not come out to the autocrosses? Eight runs on an 80 to 100 second course, lots of help if you need it, for only thirty bucks?

I guess I'm just depressed about the whole attendance thing because the NTS2KOC autocross has been my baby since we started them in 2001, and the events have pretty much died off for reasons I can't understand. The old guard leaving for other vehicles? The new owners just not being interested? Folks trying to save money because of the economy? Folks getting tired of the drive out to MW?

I dunno. We can do something about that last one, but only if we purchase some sort of trailer to haul the cones around, and find somebody willing to tow and store said trailer. I'm not. I sure am glad we have Jarrett now to help set everything up, but it seems it's a wasted effort these days. I don't see EgoThreat and I being involved in running these next year, the way things are going. Perhaps we should just hand over the NTS2KOC assets to the North Texas chapter of S2KCA and call it the end of a good run while it lasted? No idea what sort of requirements Texas has for the dissolusion of organizations such as ours, though.

As mentioned before, it wasn't a lack of education or anything like that. You obviously don't know as much about the topic as you think you do if you didn't already know this before typing your response.

Anybody that stood up for the people that didn't want to have to put up with that crap are now the bad guys? He's not the first guy we've run off because they refused to speak in standard English, and you know what... I don't miss the guys that type in all "txt speak" either.

Most of the "veterans" that you say acted childishly were simply trying to get him to act like a mature adult and not flood our forums with his crap, when he was fully aware that the majority of people here didn't like how he was acting/typing. Phantom was a ok guy in person too, but when he acted like a tool on the forums he was banned. When it comes down to it, that's what we have to put up with the most on the forums, how people act here, not at the meets. There's nothing that FTW didn't contribute that could not have also been contributed by speaking in regular English.

Mark,
Hopefully we can get enough for the next autocross, I plan on attending (work schedule permitting). Unfortunately I had one of my wheels stolen because I left it outside of my garage one night on accident so I will probably be running street tires (in the R class for "points reasons"... although I'm pretty sure that won't matters this season for me, haha). As far as next season goes, unfortunately it'll probably be more of the same "work schedule permitting" from me.
