Minvo, sorry for beating your record of advance notice. The idea being to help folks get the time booked far enough in advance to take more days and allow for an extended stay. For once us Paddys wont have a ferry as part of a Megameet!! (sorry Haye, you've no 2 to get) :D

blue monster 06-02-2014 12:56 PM

Sam, do you think that there will be any chance of discounts on ferries if there are enough of us coming over?

S2000_sam 06-02-2014 01:56 PM

Martin,

Im sure by the time the numbers are in there will be a good likelyhood of a group discount on the ferry. There are several nferry options but Holyhead-Dublin might be the preferred route.

Martin - I think this is where we as the UK Owners club need to go and talk to and try and negotiate with the ferry companies......watch this space !

This is one reason for posting the dates so early so we know what we need to go knocking on the door with!!

I've allready been asking for info at Stenaline in Fishguard.
I think I'm going to make a longer vacation out of it. With round trip of the Emerald Isle.
At the moment I only see Rosslare-Limerick-Rosslare or Rosslare-Limerick-Dublin  .
I've been walking some small roads in Ireland , S might have to go up for Ireland
Big(ger) roads seem to be good enough most of the time.

Theresa and myself will be there. Our plans are week before rent a house in NI then week after rent a house in Ireland, two week holiday with mega in middle any one interested?

S2000_sam 08-19-2014 03:05 PM

If anyone wants some pointers to make up a break, local knowledge etc etc, feel free to give me a shout.

AquilaEagle 10-27-2014 11:32 AM

Costs will be very similar to Megameet 10, just a tiny bit more...

Ferry deals being worked on by MBC

Full registration details will be posted within this week :)

:dance2:

MissBabyCar 10-28-2014 11:35 AM

As Ian mentions....currently in discussions with ferry companies to see what discounts we can negotiate.....

However...its perhaps worth pointing out at this early stage that both Irish Ferries and Stena do ferry bookings using Tesco vouchers...a £10 voucher = £30 in ferry booking terms.

An approx. cost of crossing from Holyhead to Dublin return is £270...

Just in case anyone wonders what to do with any Tesco vouchers (that is if you shop there!!) !!!!!!!!

More info when we have it!

Note: Ferry bookings will be down to your good selves to arrange as we have a funny feeling that people may travel at different times to perhaps have an extended holiday!

Hotel accommodation, Gala Dinner, Route with stops as per normal MegaMeets will be arrange for you on registration :) :) :)

Vixen 10-28-2014 11:49 AM

Looks like my trip may be dependent on whether I can find a passenger to share the cost!

Agreed as there is no way that my wife can attend with the colleges only going back 2 weeks or so earlier.

Looks like I am going to need to find a passenger too :(

S2000_sam 11-24-2014 02:13 PM

Booked!!

My first Megameet without the need for a ferry!! (the ferry rate negotiated for the group is actually very good, so that should help lessen the burden)

I'm sure there will be some people looking to save costs with Ferry etc, so may well be worth hooking up together to bring 2 people in one car in some cases :) One great reason for threads like this

MissBabyCar 11-25-2014 02:54 PM

I'm booked......woohoo......

Think my ferry is going to get paid with Tesco vouchers....been wondering what to do with them!

Mind you, think I've managed to negotiate a good price for Irish Ferry crossings and still working on Stena ......so that helps.

And I'm definitely making more of a holiday out of the trip....should be nice and quiet on the roads in September with all the kids being back at school :)

Well done Sam / Tom etal for getting this Irish MegaMeet off the ground :)

Shmooo 12-01-2014 10:01 AM

Woo hoo! We're registered & deposit paid by bank transfer. Really looking forward to this & the "mini" mega meet in May!

 :rev:

minvo 12-18-2014 04:28 AM

OK. After much discussion with the wife.
We could not decide between California in September or MM11 in September.
California or MM11??? California or MM11??? California or MM11???

So we have decided on MM11 in September and Florida MEXICO in November.

So....
What days are people intending on travelling? (as we don't have much holiday days left!)

I was thinking of travelling up on the 17th and 18th and maybe spending a week afterwards somewhere in Ireland.

Does anyone else have any ideas (who would like some company) ???
I really would love to organise a convoy with a group of us on the same ferry over!

Minvo

Only risk with this one is that you might agree on a discounted price and then have ppl dropping out at the very last moment.
Unless upon reservation everyone pays and then negotiated/discounted ferry fee!

Never been to Ireland, always wanted to go, have a couple of good friends there as well; but my job does not allow me to plan that far ahead! Want to come badly though! :)

Everyone has to book and pay for their own ferries so our negotiations with ferry companies are for the benefit of MM11 attendees....make the most of it and enjoy a trip to a great place with like minded and sociable car enthusiasts.

Details of ferry discounts will be on club website registration details page very soon.....

Would suggest folk take out your own travel insurance as if you choose to drop out the club will not be making refunds on deposits, ferries etc.....

AquilaEagle 01-11-2015 04:28 AM

Details of how to book extended stay at discount rates now in Second Post

S2000_sam 02-23-2015 12:54 PM

I have pulled together various driving routes for those wishing to make extended stays at Megameet 11 in Northern Ireland. The routes include points of interest, dining recommendations, and of course some great driving roads and views. Tom is drawing up some similar recommendations for Southern Ireland.

PM me your email address and I will forward these on to anyone interested.

Haye, that's a shame, it would have been good to see you there. Who is going to take over the responsibility of bringing Belgian beer to a Megameet? :-)

HRS2000 05-20-2015 02:23 AM

I will bring the beer to someone :) .I'm not going to give it to Guy Weemaels because he will drink it all Martin.

And someone will have to throw water over soupdragon :)
