Default 04 hu

is the oem hu unit wired so the outputs for the fronts are like the rear outputs for a conventional ots hu.

ie more bass output to the rears.or in the s2k hu to the fronts.

What's an ots hu?

AFAIK normal headunits have the same sound going to all 4 speakers.

You need amps and crossovers and whatnot to get the effect you're talking about.

Speakers are all about room for the air to move. In the rear panels there is no room behind the speaker for the air to move round. On the front ones there is (like a speaker canbinet)

You may also notice that the front speakers lose all their bottom end when the window is down, because the shape and size of the "cabinet" is changed.

i thought the air not moving around might be a prob.but i thought the air vent things might act like a reflex speaker...perhaps.

You can't compare two different sets of speakers - they wil be different impedence etc. ONly if they are radically different would I think that the rear outputs on the HU cater specifically for the Honda speakers. To be honest, rear speakers are naff anyway, as is the standard HU.

Except the rear speakers thing

Craig comes to the rescue with techical descriptions!!

Neil was doing well there though!

OEM HU is power/impedance matched to the POS OEM speakers. Use the fade setting to balance front to rear (does the 04 OEM HU have it?)

OEM headrest speakers are POS on two counts
very small so poor low frequencies (can't move enough air)
crap quality signal from HU

Simple really - more bass needs more power and bigger speakers!
