The thing that really worried me was that the car was not out on the front in the service bays when I came to collect the next morning. I was stood outside for five minutes waiting for them to bring it round from the back??

The dealer has recently taken over the servicing \ parts of an ex MG Rover Dealership and there seems to be a number of new faces I don't recognise. They have only been doing it since the new year so maybe the novelty has not worn off yet???

[QUOTE=boyce01,Feb 16 2006, 11:00 PM] I rang the Dealer Principle today. Basically he challenged my knowledge of the mileage and indirectly called me a liar ... excellent!!

He said they heard a rattle from the roof catch and took it out for a drive. They then sent the Service Manager out to verify the fault which they say would have added 10 miles tops???

I am very pedantic about my car and if there was a rattling roof catch I would have noticed it immediately.

Basically it is my word against theirs and there is nothing I can do. Difficulty is that the nearest alternative dealer is 30 miles away and they have been excellent in the past.

I put

Which dealership do you work at Mastertech?

I always wait whilst my car is being serviced. Jorge always takes me out when doing the test drive. Probably around a mile at most.

unfortunately, the only way to prevent problems is to have a conversation with the service manager, before leaving the car

a walk around agreeing the absence/presence of damage and agreement on how far the car will be driven, how and by whom

most people feel emabarrased to do this - I prefer to think of the alternative

there's no need to be rude, just firm and explicit

I wish I shared 'Master Tech's' view that mechanics are jaded souls who can't get excited at the thought of a blast in an S2000

it certainly wasn't the case for the main agent Ford monkeys that totalled my Scorpio estate two or three years back

ime, mechanics tend to be crap drivers with an exaggerated opinion regarding their abilities

that, combined with youth, an everyday 1.8 Vectra and the opportunity to drive something they can only dream of owning, is a dangerous cocktail
