Default 2 new tyres needed already!

I'm VERY luck to be walking today. Friday night I took my mate out for a spin in the 'Bat Mobile' was in Waltham abbey on the dual carriageway stretch and I put my foot down on a slip of round with a slight bend......it was wet.

It was so stupid of me to do it, I know now. The back end swung out to the left, I mounted the kerb on the left, some how missing all the lamp posts and barriers, the back flip round to the right and I mounted the central reservation. I was so shaken up buy it. Only way to get my confidence back was to get back in the thing on Saturday. Which I did, and had a fantastic day. Got my confidence back and was able to take her through her paces through some 'dry' round abouts and it was just a different car. Amazing control and feeling through the bends. really got a back on my face.

However, I met up with SteveM at the weekend and we noticed a bump in one of my new tyres (fronts) from what happened Friday. 2 new tyres needed on the front now. I have been quoted

Does this convince you that you ought to put some different tyres on the rear?

Don't you have 225 non-S02JZs on?

Chris thank god you are ok.

I would certainly get the geometry laser aligned, this is the best thing to help plant the car on the road. Take it easy out there mate.

Geom, tracking, balancing will all be checked with the new tyres. I've really badly scuffed 2 of my Alloys as well, so I may be on the look out in the new year for a new set of alloys or I may have mine refurb but with the MY01+ finish to them! Some thing I don't think any one has done....... yet!

Cheers Colin
If that is just the diamond cutting then I have been advised against it. As soon as you get a stone chip on the wheels they will deteriorate VERY quickly.

As you are local (from your sig) try these guys

http://www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk/services.htm

very impressed with both work and prices, they will do the diamond cutting aswell but will expect to see you often to have them re-done.

theres another guy used them too (trypod).

Eventmobile tyres are cheap and good service by all accounts, and if you want to travel try Bracknell Tyres out

I have Yoko's AD-07s in 225 on the rear. I've spoken to a chap in the US that has used them, I've been told they have a wide tread pattern, like the S02's so they will act like a 235/245 tyres. So no I wont be getting them changed soon for this reason and because I wont be driving like 'tw*at of the year' any more.

For those interseted - quote for the tyres was from R-tec, just behind the Honda Garage on the St. Albans Rd. They are really good, and have loads of top of the range tecnology in there to check tracking, balancing etc etc. Web link below, I'm sure some of you will think its a bit chavtasic, but I love the shop!

Thanks for all the replys

Chris
