Default 2002 Service Intervals ???

My car came via Belgium so currently only got European Service book and I know that in the past different countries have had varying intervals - my dealer is getting hold of a UK book for me. However there was some uncertainty re intervals for 2002 model cars.

I talked to Honda UK and they say from 2002 onwards S2000 interval now 12k miles.

Hence I had oil change at 6k and will have full servie at 12k.

What experience have others had ?

Wow, 6K in three months.

Basically you can only do good by what you are doing, oil in between services is the way to go. Provide your own oil to save money

Now at 7.5k and rising !

Can others with 2002 cars confirm that they have the service intervals as 12k ?

Cheers

Alun, I recently had my car registered with Honda UK - I was told that the 9000mile service book is for the S2000?!

Hmmm, taking mine in on 9k for service and first oil change to Mobil 1.

This used to be the way to do it if I remember, and I dont think the basics of the car have changed so I am going to stick to it. Cannot do any harm to have an early service.

Often.

Mine says 9000 miles, next one is due in a years time or another 9000 miles - so probably in six months !

Mine is in for 9k service tomorrow. Any questions I should ask? TSBs? Spark plugs?

It gets better - have checked again with dealer this morning (12k miles - apparently Honda are migrating all 'revised' cars to 12k) and Honda UK - now saying 9k miles (4 weeks ago they told me 12k miles !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Watch this space - I suspect that there are a number of factors in play here - confusion over kilometers and miles, but also if Honda have actually change interval how quickly were UK service books updated ?

They will probably keep all existing service intervals the same and only change new cars sold from a particluar date.

SAAB did this a while back (with their old shape 900 turbos). The service intervals for oil/filter change was 6,000 miles. Then, with no change at all to the engine design, it suddenly became 12,000 miles. My inside information confirmed that this was purely a marketing thing (done because 6,000 oil changes were seen as a hurdle for the sales people to get over)

I kept changing my oil and filter at 6k right up to the time I sold the car on the basis that if the engine designers specified it, then it was for a bloody good reason
