Not sure about that, but you can buy a Feels aftermarket kit that increases displacement to 2.3:

http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com/catal...tail.php?ID=138

"Increases horsepower to approx. 280hp. Includes gasket set, rods, pistons, piston rings, and crank."

PS What's an S2200?

That fantastic!!! Has anyone done it to their car? How long would it be before the engine blew up?

Thanks, Go Nads. I understood that!

I am uncertain as too whether the 2.2 Block is cast taller, or not.

If not, the stroking would be achieved by lengthening the crank throw and shortening the con-rods.

It is theoretically, retro-fittable, but would require an engine management change etc, etc. Probably very involved.

Trouble is, engine destruction is governed by mean piston speeds. Obviously, the longer throw increases acceleration and mean speed of your slugs. This is why the 2.2 is limited to 8K rpm, not 9K.

Choose your poison...........

...........
Damn straight.

Since the main structure of the engine is changed the resonance of the block is changed. This means that the knock frequency of the block could possibly change. This could mean a change to the knock sensor, wire harness, ECU etc.

Depends how much it changes the frequency though.

Something would also have to be done to the cylinder head, I would have thought. There would be an increase in compression ratio, which is already pretty high at 11:1, I think.

280bhp at what revs? Does it say anywhere?
