Default 302 kW S2000 Conversion

Not far from my home is a company that specialises in supercharging .... It's called Rob Green Motorsport. They do a conversion on the S2000 that takes the OEM 177kW up to 302kW.

I've considered having this conversion done to my low km 2006 S2K ...... what are your thoughts on issues like engine reliability/longevity with a conversion like this?

Here in Jo'burg we are at about 1600 m (5,300 ft) above sea level, so a normally aspirated vehicle loses around 15 - 17% of its power at this altitude.

Here's a link to their website:

It is a Vortech supercharger, much has been written about them on the FI forum. Generally speaking, FI has to knock longetivity but ensure proper cooling etc will improve matters. Does a 2006 S2000 have DBW throttle though? If so, I'm not sure the Vortech can be fitted to it One of the BoostBoys™ will be here with some detail soon (when everyone else gets into work ).

I've read their website more thoroughly now and they quote a price for the mod at a hefty ZAR 65 K, equivalent to about 4,600 of your Pounds

That's the sort of figure we'd expect over here too for a fitted and tuned SC.

loving the metric units too.

so it brings the power up to 0.0000002 wind turbines (gale force 3 NWesterly)

and increases sprint time by 3 furlongs per fortnight.

Sounds like a bargain.

good luck with it and keep us in the loop

Do you guys also still use bushels & pecks as well? Or is that just the yanks over the pond?

Although I was born in Liverpool I left UK when very young, back in the 1950's, so had all my schooling in the Colonies, where metrication came in many, many years ago (circa 1960 if I recall correctly).

Still use BHP, lbft, and miles ..

So it's a 400bhp conversion?

There is no proven supercharger kit on the +06 at the moment as the +06 ECU will not work with ESM's Comptech & Vortech use, nor has anyone got a replacement ECU that works for it.

That's why I sold my 06 and bought an 05!

Hey another South African!!!

Rob Green has done quite a few but he is not the only place that does it. Also some forums have reports of not so good sevice from his team, although i am not saying that that is the case.

Jerry from import parts (importparts.co.za) will also source a Vortech or Comptech one for you, probably cheaper than RGM, i know him well and he has brouht a few in already.

The 2 secs u can save on the quarter mile is based on a Jhb time of about 15.4 secs (which is what Cars in action tested it at in Jhb). U will get the 17% back since its forced induction, plus the power of the supercharger. If u can afford it, u must do it!! There wont be much up in Jhb that will compete.

Check the autotrader, there is a black 2006 wuth a Supercharger for sale by Honda Eastrand. They claim 265kw (ATW i think). I spoke to them about it and they said it is a DBW model and that it can be done.

I want to go drive it jsut to check that it is as good as i dream it is.

I'd be interested to know how they have done it

Edit - just checked - that is the company the OP has posted about.
Reading their web site they use a Unichip piggy back ECU on the 06 ECU. These haven't proved great in the UK on pre 06 cars.
