Default ABS sensor

Hi,
trying to make the new RLTC unit work, and after a few tests it would appear that the rear near side ABS sensor might be at fault. Not totally sure yet if this is the case, does anyone have a foolproof way (preferrably without removing the sensor) of determining if this sensor is working correctly. Or does anyone have any tips for removal of this sensor? Many thanks.

I was going to suggest swapping them around, but I see that you would prefer not to move the sensor.

Other possibility would be to get a second hand one from a breakers.

Surely if faulty your ABS light will be on?

Good call, but OP may be reticent to go down this route following a previous encounter with CG.

Thanks for the info and help, and don't worry about travelling down to CG it has nothing to do with the 'encounter' it is purely distance based, Chris is quite a long way from me. However I will drop him a line and see if he would be prepared to let me utilise one of those sensors, that would be fantastic. Could they be posted?

Nick I will use that reference when and if I have to speak to my HONDA dealer, I may even quote you word for word over the phone should they be obstructive!

MotoGP1 thanks very much for the tip, writing an email as we speak

LTB yep swapping them is probably the only surefire way to know.

Another thought Paul, as the ABS isn't throwing up a fault could it be a bad connection/dry joint where the R/L taps into the ABS lead?
Might be worth re-soldering the connection. Left rear is green/black I think.
Also make sure the connector into the R/L unit is fully in.

Might be worth checking the ABS wheel sensors connector for any corrosion.
Taking it off and replacing it a couple of times might do it.

Do you have manual? I could post up some sheets about the ABS if it would help.

Thanks for all the info Ian, but I am not very mechanically minded when it comes to cars (OK with the computer stuff that setting up RLTC requires though) so I would be unable to do the things you suggest as ways to test. I would have to get my mechanic friend to do it for me, however he is away in Canada snowboarding for a week right now ...
