Default Advice please.

Took my car in to a Honda dealer to be looked at yesterday as I have a clicking coming from the back when I move away from a stand still. Sounds very much like the Hub nuts need to be tightened. When booking in my car I told them this and even showed them a document explaining the problem from Honda.

I dropped my keys off very early into a safety box. I marked on the envelope they supply, not to carry out any work on my car with out contacting me first.

About 11am yesterday they call me to ask how will I be paying for any work that needs to be carried out. I explained that they should contact me before any work is carried out and I do not expect a charge if it is the Hub nuts as my car is under warranty. The chap went on to say that its only so they know if any work is carried out but they will contact me before doing any thing.

3:40 I call them to say I'll be about an hour, I just want to know if the cars ready. They said that they could not hear the problem . So I explained the issue again.

I turn up at the dealers at 4:50 and are told they have just finished and they will be with me shortly. at 5:30 I'm finally seen to!!! They said they could not find the problem and further investigation is required. That will be

Thats bad, shocking in fact. I'd try another dealer. Don't know what to recommend about the 'lost' 47 quid though.

You're under extended warranty, so things are somewhat different to the original 3 year warranty. Under the extended warranty they have to find the problem and then put in a claim to see if the problem is covered. If its not, and i suspect loose hub nuts won't be, then you have to pay.

In this case, the first port of call should be the service manager. Explain your dissatisfaction to him and see what happens. I can see why you're unhappy, and i would be too, but Honda Uk at this point is a bit premature.

Thaks people, I called them about 6:30 last night asking for a phone call 1st thing today. I've also tried calling them about an hour ago asking to speak to the most superior person. I'm still waiting.

Lower, thats useful to know about the extended warranty, cheers.

I'd not be so angry about the

unfortunately this is a story that's repeated around dealerships of all makes every day

I gave up long ago with leaving cars with dealers with a description of the problem

'No fault found' but an investigative charge was all too common

The only way is to take them out in the car

Speak to the dealer principal or head of customer service. Absolute disgrace of a dealer if they have charged you for a fault that they can't find and didn't need to be driven.
